The Story of Quick-Cooking Brown Rice

The Story of Quick-Cooking Brown Rice

Short grain rice.jpg

You may have noticed that we started offering quick-cooking brown rice in some of our boxes. You may be wondering: How can rice be ugly and how can it cook so fast? Doesn’t brown rice take longer to finish than one of those Lord of the Rings movies?

Our quick-cooking brown rice is a unique rice that ended up with some scarred and damaged kernels during the milling process. Basically, while it was being cleaned and sorted, some of the grains got scratched and broken. While some retail stores refuse to buy rice with broken kernels, the silver lining is that it actually cooks as fast as white rice while still having all of the awesome health benefits of brown rice. We invite you to join us in celebrating this rice for the unique ingredient that it is. Together, we can show the world that a few broken grains don’t make a batch of rice less valuable. If anything, it makes it more important to savor for what it is!
