Our name may be a little different now, but the impact of the Imperfect community is larger than ever before. That’s why we’re taking a moment to celebrate what we’ve been able to accomplish in four years with help from folks like you!
Our community has saved over 80 million pounds of Imperfect food.
One box of groceries at your door might not seem like a lot, but over time all those deliveries have added up to tens of millions of pounds of food that we’ve been able to divert from the waste stream or other not-so-good outcomes and send to dinner tables instead.
767 farmers and producers have directly benefited from our food recovery model.
Reducing food waste is obviously a win for the environment, but our work is also about supporting the hard-working folks that work to feed our country. Our nation’s farmers and food producers take a hit to their bottom line each time they aren’t able to sell their products to retail stores because of how they look. By creating a new market for ugly, short-coded, discontinued, or surplus products, our community is helping make the difficult business of making good food more economically and environmentally sustainable.
We’ve delivered 284,000 reduced cost boxes to low-income families.
We’re committed to making healthy food more accessible to everyone, and our reduced cost box program is a huge way that we do this. Since online retailers can’t accept SNAP payments yet, this heavily discounted box is our way of making sure that anyone who wants access to healthy groceries can get them at an affordable price. You help support these boxes with each order, so thank you!
We’ve donated over 3.2 million pounds of food to nonprofit and food bank partners across the country.
As our company has expanded across the country recovering more food, we’ve also been able to share even more healthy food with our donation partners. As we grow, our ability to give back grows, too! What once was a few pallets of fruits and vegetables here and there is now over 200,000 pounds of healthy food flowing each week to folks that need it. This growth constantly reminds us of the transformative power of generosity.
These accomplishments aren’t ours alone. They belong to all of the farmers, producers, food banks, and customers who have worked with us to build a less wasteful and more sustainable food system. Thanks to everyone who has helped us make this impact. Whoever said one passionate person couldn’t change our food system obviously never met you! codi.leitner@misfitsmarket.com
